Shotgun and firearms licence medical certification
Licensing departments across the country are under extreme pressure and you will need to give them several months to process your application. We recommend you start the process at least six months before expiry of your current licence. The first stage is to complete your half of the medical proforma and send it to us.
Plenty of lead
Patience required
We will need notes covering the last 20 years. Practices are busy and frequently taking a month or longer to provide these. Importantly it must be provided directly to us, not via you.
Process
First you complete your half of the medical proforma and our consent form. Next we request your notes from your NHS practice. On receipt of those we will complete the proforma and send it to you, usually within 24 hours. If you wish to have your notes you can, otherwise we will destroy them.
Living abroad
If you’ve lived abroad within the last 20 years we will need access to medical notes from there, otherwise your records won’t be continuous. Some countries do not retain notes longer than a few years - in these cases unfortunately the UK licencing authorities may refuse your application.
Fees
We only charge you for the admin time we use. Short and complete records will be quicker, longer records or from multiple sources will take longer. In most cases our fees will be approximately £45.
