FAQs

Many questions have already been asked, but if you have a new question please send it our way - we will get back to you usually in a matter of a few hours.

  • Lisle Medical has a clinic in central Haslemere but also provides a home visiting service covering a wide area of West Sussex and surrounding parts of Surrey and Hampshire. Appointments can be booked online or by telephone and you will receive directions in your confirmation email.

  • You just need to book an appointment. Click the blue button in the top menu and it will guide you through selecting the most appropriate appointment type. For home visits you will need to call the clinic to arrange a time. The doctor may wish to call you first to ensure they arrive fully equipped to provide the care you need. No payment is taken until after your appointment.

  • Most appointments will be offered on the day, or possibly the next day if requested in the afternoon. Out of hours visits can often be arranged for members if required.

  • You don’t need to pre-register. When booking an appointment you will receive a confirmation email inviting new patients to complete a short registration form - you only need to do this additional form the first time. If you apply for membership the form is similar and will register you on our system. If you would prefer to add your details to our system now to save you doing it when you need us and feel unwell then you can do at this link.

  • No, membership is an option but not required. You are most welcome to use the service on an ad hoc basis, please just go ahead and book in.

  • Clinics appointments are routinely 30 minutes long (most clinics offer 20 minutes); one hour double slots can also be booked. Home visits are usually 30-60 minutes but if you feel longer will be needed please let us know when booking. We want to allocate sufficient time to cover your concerns in an unhurried fashion at one appointment. If we’re short of time we will offer to continue the conversation later by phone.

  • Fees are constantly compared across the sector, although there aren’t many private GP services offering a similar service, certainly very few offering 30 minute appointments, and most charge more for just 20 minutes. Lisle Medical is therefore competitively priced, and the details are all on our fees page.

  • The basic principle is you pay for our time (the appointment cost) plus the cost of whatever blood test or vaccine(s) you are having. Guide prices for vaccines are on the fees page, blood tests vary hugely from around £20 for a specific test to around £150 for a broad panel of screening tests, or more for greater detail. We always strive to find the most cost-effective way of doing what is needed.

  • Not at all. You remain registered with an NHS GP, they can be informed of our discussions and conclusions if we decide it makes sense, and as well as private referrals we can even refer you to NHS hospital services if required.

  • You are most welcome to book in a clinic appointment at our Haslemere clinic. For home visits the doctor needs to remain relatively close to the patients, so although we will always try our best to help those in adjacent areas we can’t guarantee the same prompt or frequent availability. It is always worth asking though so please get in touch.

  • Yes, we maintain a list of who we feel are the best specialists in all fields both locally and nationally and can refer you to any of them. You may need to check with your insurer for eligibility, particularly for some highly specialised services. We can also refer to NHS services.

  • Unfortunately not. The majority of UK private medical insurance policies do not cover GP care and it is therefore not necessary to register our service with them in the way a hospital consultant would. They will however accept our referrals. Sometimes you can claim the cost back - we will help with any forms if needs be.

Some policies include access to an in-house remote GP service but we find that these offer little continuity, personalised care or in-person interaction. Lisle Medical is a different service focussing on full and thorough assessment through the medium of a traditional GP appointment.
